Group exhibition creates a scenario that encourages exchangeofviewsamongthe participating painters. Often these exhibitions feature artists who share a common background — students/teachers of the same institution or members of a certain group. The works may differ based on themes, techniques and personal experiences but friendship or personal interaction plays a vital role. One such group exposition is now on at Haque Art Gallery, Gulshan-2 DCC Market. Participating artists include Samiran Chowdhury, Ahmed Nazir, Laila Sharmeen, Mostafa Sharif Anowar, Masudul Haque, Dilara Shamsee Julie, Azadi Parvin Tuesly, Shahina Islam, Sohana Shahreen and others.

Of them, Samiran Chowdhury, Ahmed Nazir, Laila Sharmeen and Mostafa Sharif Anowar are recognised artists in the Dhaka circuit.

In the '80s, Samiran emerged as an accomplished watercolourist. His watercolours were mostly studies of life on land and aquatic life. He has also done figurative works, portraying men and women, kites, rickshaws, boats, pigeons and sunflowers. In recent times, his abstractions have highlighted geometry and forms. Colour, composition and some unusual forms are also noticeable features in his works.

Laila Sharmeen's mixed media works are prolific, abstract images of beauty and truth. Spontaneous use of colours expresses the artist's moods. She has tried to explore nature, rhythm and poetry through her meticulous interpretations. Mostafa Sharif Anowar is the only participating sculptor at the exhibition. He is well known for his thematic motif-oriented sculptures. His main concerns are form and theme. The works at the exhibition have been carved from granite. The artist has breathed life into them with his skilled hands.

Mahmudur Rahman's works portray rural beauty. He received 'Best Class Award' (Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University) in 1985 for his innovative use of colours and techniques. Quiet nature and its diverse grandeur are the themes of his paintings.

A naturist painter, Sohana Shahreen has traced her journeys into the vast diverse ocean of nature through her works. Her paintings delve into lush greenery and its various aspects. Use of rectangular and triangular forms is a noteworthy trait of the artist.

Urmi Kulsum Mummun's colours — ultramarine blue, green and yellow — capture vignettes of her quintessential romantic world. The general look is cloudy and the style, impressionistic. Dilara Shamsee Julie is seemingly fascinated with ornaments. She has closely observed the shapes and designs of jewellery. Her use space is generous and the subjects get focus.

Azadi Parvin Tuesly teaches at the Department of Fine Arts, Rajshahi University. She is a figurative painter and her canvas is full of scribbles and forms. In his works, flora and foliage are noticeable objects. She like to use crimson, green and black in her works.
