A discussion, painting competition for children and a cultural programme were held in Pabna on Wednesday to observe International Anti-Corruption Day. Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), Pabna and Anti Graft Body, Pabna jointly organised the daylong programme to promote the anti-corruptibn movement. The event was held at the Pabna Town Hall premises.

/Around 50 schools students participated in the painting competition. The competition, said ACC officials, served to create awareness among the young ones on the subject.

Next on the cards were a discussion and cultural programme. President of Anti Graft Body, Pabna District Unit Committee and veteran educationist AR Samsul Islam chaired the discussion. Assistant Director of ACC, Pabna office Md. Khalilur Rahman, Professor Md Kamruzzaman, Professor Md Nurunnabi, Professor Amirul Islam, Dr Sarwar Jahan Fayaz and Advocate Mohiuddin spoke on the occasion.

“Corruption destroys the development of a nation,” said the speakers.

“If we can change ourselves to resist corruption, success will follow. People from all walks of lives should work together to resist corruption. Without mass awareness, the anti-corruption movement can never succeed. Joint

effort is a must to prevent corruption," they went on to add.

A cultural programme was held later. Artistes of AFA institute, Pabna performed in the programme. First came a chorus song to generate awareness about the anti-corruption movement Later the artists performed songs and dances.
