Another member of Bangladesh Rifles died yesterday at its Thakurgaon headquarters.

He was identified as nayeb subedar Yiasin Zaman, 57, from Sandwip in Chittagong. He was recently transferred from Battalion-16 to Battalion-20.

With this death, the number of BDR men dead after the mutiny on February 25-26 rises to 48.

Of the dead, autopsies of 11 bodies were conducted and two murder cases were filed with New Market Police Station for torturing two men to death. Yiasin felt sick and fell down from a chair after the Fazr prayers. He was then rushed to Thakurgaon hospital where die doctor on duty declared him dead, a BDR press release issued yesterday said.

It is observed that after each death incident, the BDR authorities had given excuses of cardiac attacks or suicidal attempts.

However, on the basis of autopsy report New Market police filed two cases on October 2 for killing lance nayek Mobarak Hossain of Battalion-29 and havildar Mahiuddin of Battalion-28 of Chittagong.
