On March 1, people of all ages, including several cultural personalities, gathered in front of the BDR gate number four (Rifles Square), to honour and pray for those who were brutally killed during the massacre at the BDR headquarters on February 25.

Representatives of different religious communities including Dheer Bansha Bhikkhu (Buddhist), Asma Abbasi (Islam). Ramratan Chakrabarty (Hindu) and Subir Adhikary (Christian) prayed and read from their respective religious scripts at the event.

"The essence of every religion is peace. No religious doctrine supports such brutality. Those who have been killed are martyrs,” said Asma Abbasi.

Apart from mass prayers, a one-minute silence was also observed. With a burning candle in hand, everyone stood resolute to demonstrate solidarity at a time of a national crisis.

Jamaluddin Kumkum Shai rendered the Lalon Geeti "Shatyo bol shupothey chol." This devotional song was performed as a prayer on behalf of the Hauls, following the mysticism of Fakir Lalan Shah. Artistes present at the event also performed patriotic songs. The presence of many young men and women made the event remarkable.
