The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACO will press charges against detained former communications minister Nazrnul Huda and former chief engineer of Roads and Highways Department ARM Anwar Hossain in acorruption case.

ACC Director General (admin) Col Hanif Iqbal told journalists at a regular briefing yesterday that the commission has approved the submission of charge sheet in the graft case filed against the two.

He said the ACC has also approved the submission of charge sheets in eight graft cases filed against 18 other people, including former state minister and Awami League leader AKM Jahangir Hussain, former ambassador Nazim Ullah Chowdhury and incumbent joint-secretary (OSD) Rafiqul-e-Mohammad.

Former Bangladesh ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Nazim UUah will be charge-sheeted for misappropriating Tk 65 lakh through prolonging his career by two years by changing his date of birth in certificate.

The commission will press charges against joint secretary (now OSD) Rafiq for acquiring illegal wealth worth Tk 30.6 lakh and hiding information of assets worth Tk 5.56 lakh.

Former director general of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) and consul tant of the Asian Development Bank Waliur Rahman, ex BBS director (admin) Khurshid Kamal and seven others will be charge-sheeted for corruption and fraudulent acts relating to recruitment of statistics investigators.

The remaining four charge sheets will be submitted against six individuals, including three Brae officials and accountant of Birsreshtha Munshi Abdur Rauf Rifles College. The cases were filed on grounds of misappropriation and money laundering.

Col Hanif Iqbal told the briefing that the commission has approved the submission of final reports in 69 graft cases involving 103 individuals, including former BNP law-maker Nasir oddin Pintu.
