Charges have been pressed against former BNP lawmaker Shahidul Islam Master (Jhenidah-3 constituency) for misappropriating relief materials.

The Khulna office of the AntiCorruption Commission (ACC) submitted the charge sheet to the Judicial Magistrate's Court, Jhenidah, yesterday.

ACC sources said the joint forces recovered Cl sheets, sarees and blankets meant for relief from Shahidul’s village home at Bhalai Purunder under Moheshpur upazila of the district on February 22,2007.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Monirul Islam of Moheshpur Police Station filed a case accusing Shahidul, also the general secretary of BNP district unit, the same day.

After investigation, the ACC submitted the charge sheet. The former lawmaker is also an accused in 15 other criminal cases. He has been absconding since the declaration of the state of emergency.
