The state of instability which ensued in the aftermath of the Liberation War in 1971 is still prevailing in the country. Justice Muhammad Habibur Rahman said at the publication ceremony of a book tided Tajuddin Ahmed: Birth of Bangladesh and Afterwards' yesterday.

This book, written by Kamal Hossain, an assistant professor of Government Rajshahi College, will help the readers understand the volatile situation after 1971, said Justice Habibur Rahman, a former chief adviser of the caretaker government

Speaking as the chief guest, he said the nation is still undecided on the state affairs. "We are still busy with dialogue on the very basic state issues.“

He said the newly published book will help understand the

period after 1971, but was unsure whether it could demonstrate any orientation for future.

In response to a comment by Prof Dr Syed Anwar Hossain at the ceremony that the book does not have a concluding part, Justice Habibur Rahman said. "It is a simple issue that there will be no concluding pan in the book as we cannot draw a 'national conclusion'.'

Eminent jurist Dr Kamal Hossain, who presided over the ceremony, said Tajuddin Ahmed, the first prime minister of the country, was one of the top leaders who envisioned an independent and truly democratic and secular Bangladesh.

'I spent my best time as a political activist under the leadership of Tajuddin .Ahmed," he said, adding that the book, which is actually a research work, is a unique work that provides details of the life and

work ofTajuddin Ahmed.

Lauding the writer's efforts, Dr Kamal said democratic and secular values demonstrated by the leaders like Tajuddin tremendously helped the constitution committee frame the constitution of 1972.

He also urged the youths to stick to the values demonstrated by the leaders like Tajuddin in order to bring about changes in society.

Prof Dr Syed Anwar Hossain said, "Bangabandhu was the architect of Bangladesh and Tajuddin Ahmed was the builder of the nation. But it is unfortunate that the nation has lost both of them."

"Tajuddin's contribution to the liberation war is larger than his life," he said.

Liberation War Museum Trustee Mofidul Haque, Ankur Prokashoni Director Mesbahuddin Ahmed and writer Kamal Hossain also spoke at the programme held on the museum premises.
