Sangbadik-Sramik-Karmochari Oikya Parishad (SSKOP), a united platform of journalists, workers and employees, yesterday hailed the government for announcing the seventh wage board and demanded its immediate implementation.

At a meeting of the SSKOP at the National Press Club in the city, the speakers however said the wage board could not fully reflect their aspirations as the pay increase was not enough to meet the price hike of essentials.

They also demanded separate wage board for private television and radios.

The speakers called for forming a tripartite committee to monitor the implementation of the wage board.

The meeting demanded reenforcement of the Newspaper Employees (Condition and Services) Act 1974.

Presided over by Co-convener Mojammel Haque, the meeting was attended by Co-convener Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, member secretary Ruhul Amin Gazi, joint member secretaries Abdul Jalil Bhuiyan and Matiur Rahman Talukder, Shah Alamgir, Abdus Shahid, Omar Faruque, Baker Hossaion, Abul Hashem and .
