Probashi Manob Kalyan Foundation (PMKF) at a press conference yester -day urged the government to enroll the expatriate Bangladeshis in the voters list without making any delay, saying that they play a significant role for the country.

The expatriates' welfare organisation also asked the government to provide special facilities to expatriates in the next fiscal budget encouraging them to invest in industries.

The press conference was organised by PMKF at the Dhaka Reporters Unity auditorium in the city.

The organisation called on the government to take measures to stop unnecessary political activities by expatriates and conflicts that arise out of regional organisations abroad.

"To encourage expatriates Bangladeshis to return home, we also demand that the government reserves at least 10 seats for expatriate Bangladeshis in the national parliament,” said PMKF Chairman Dr Mohammad Abdur Rahman.

Opening separate desks at National Board of Revenue. Board of Investment, Privatisation Commission and the Secretariat for quick, services to-expatriates and giving them the stamps of commercially or nationally important persons will encourage them to send more money, he said.

PMKF Vice Chairman Dr Jamal Uddin Khalifa and Executive Director Prof Ruhul Amin also took part in the press conference.
