Gulshan police arrested a man and seized 178 tolas of gold ornaments at Baridhara in the capital yesterday.

The arrestee - Kazi Ibrahim Uddin alias Polen - claimed to police that he is a salesman of a jewellery shop at Banahi.

Police said he gave inconsistent statements abou t the seized gold.

On suspicion, police stopped a mishuk on UN Road and attempted to search the hand of its passenger Ibrahim. At this, he got down and tried to flee with the handbag containing the gold ornaments. But police caught him.

Liter, police searched the bag and seized the ornaments as Ibrahim could not show any documents for those.
