Rajshahi booked the last final round berth of the Western Union National Youth Football Championship when they emerged Jaipurhat zone champions. In the final at the Jaipurhat Stadium, Samad's hattrick enabled them to a crushing 5-0 win over Naogaon.

Rajshahi will join hosts Satkhira and qualifiers Noakhali, BKSP, Narayanganj, Jhenaidah, Khulna, Tangail, Narshingdi and Gaibandha in the finals.

TT LEAGUE

The AB Bank Metropolis Table Tennis League will begin at the Wooden Floor Gymnasium today. Ten teams will compete in the Premier League and 25 in the First Division for men's apart from the women's league.

The First Division matches will be held from May 5-25 while the Premier and Women's leagues from June 14-July 7. Sponsors AB Bank will provide Tk 2,00,000 out of the total budget of Tk 2,57,000.

DANONE CUP

The qualifying competition for

Danone Nations Cup (under-12) will begin on May 15 in six zones. A total of 36 teams will compete in Chittagong, Manikganj, Sherpur, Jhenaidah, Chapainawabganj and Barguna.

The six zonal champions will play in the final round in Dhaka with the winners booking a ticket for the tournament proper to be held in France this June.

UNDER-13 CRICKET

Hosts Kalabagan Cricket Academy beat Paramount High School by eight runs in the Boost Power under-13 cricket competition yesterday.

Batting first, Kalabagan scored 191-8 in 25 overs and then held off a stiff challenge from Paramount who were stopped at 184-7 in their stipulated 25 overs.

Extras were the order of the day as the Paramount bowlers delivered 75. Opener Faisal was the second highest-scorer with 26 runs off 51 balls.

For Paramount, Arif took three wickets

But Dipu's valiant 45 off 25 balls was not enough but his was the highest score in Paramount's

innings.

AFC FESTIVAL

Bangladesh won two matches and lost one in the AFC Football Festival (Under-13) which began at the BKSP.

The hosts recorded identical 2-1 wins over Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka before crashing 3-0 to Tajikistan.
