Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) recovered two revolvers, one shooter gun and nine bullets from Jibontala Madrasa, a JMB den in Bhaluka upazila yesterday.

Acting on confession of arrested JMB suspect Mustafizur Rahman, Rab raided the madrasa and recovered the firearms and bullets from behind the room of Maulana Abdur Rahman, an official of the madrasa. None could be arrested during the raid, police said.

On Monday, police arrested Mustafizur Rahman and three other JMB suspects from the mardasa and a nearby market. They are Sadeka Banu, wife of alleged JMB leader Maulana Abdur Rouf, Billal and Elias.

Our Tangail Correspondent adds: Nine police men at Sarishabari police station in Jamalpur district have been rewarded for bravery in detaining JMB cadres and recovering grenades from their possession.

Jamalpur Police Superintendent Muhammad Shahidullah Chowdhury gave away awards amounting to totaling Tk 32,500 to them at a function at Jamalpur police lines on Monday. The awards were announced by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Dhaka.

SI Shafiqul Islam and ASI Baharuddin of Sarishabari police station got Tk 15,000 and Tk 10,000 respectively. Constables Lutfar Rahman, Shahidul Islam, Nurul Islam, Abdur Rahim and Belayet Hossain of the same police station received Tk 1,000 each.

JMB cadres Habibur Rahman Yousuf and Kamrul Hassan of Satpoa village threwgrenades at the

nine on-duty policemen at Bhatara Bazar in Sarishabari on the night of March 21.

All of them escaped unhurt as the attackers missed the target. But the policemen caught the two JMB 'ehsar' (full time members) along with three hand grenades.

Following confessions of the two detained JMB men at the Joint Interrogation Cell (JIC) in Dhaka, the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) recovered huge quantities of power gell and grenade making materials from Nangla area in Melandaha upazila in Jamalpur and arrested two more JMB cadres.

Acting on their statements, police also arrested another JMB cadre-Mamunur Rashid Mamun--from Pallabi in Dhaka on March 27.
