Roma have reached another Italian Cup final after an impressive 3-1 victory over Milan. Goals from Amantino Mancini, Simone Perrotta and David Pizarro were enough for the capital club to complete a memorable 5-3 aggregate triumph.

Roma kicked off in front of the 40,000 at the Olimpico on Wednesday night in the driving seat, given the outcome of the first leg last week, and the Giallorossi wasted no time in underlining their advantage.

After Max Tonetto hit the side netting, the home boys took the lead in the eighth minute. A misplaced Billy Costacurta backpass caught out Nelson Dida and it was playground stuff for Mancini to make it 1-0.

Milan's Massimo Ambrosini and Francesco Totti of Roma exchanged efforts before the away side got back into the tie.

Marek Jankulovski, after a fine solo run, supplied a pass for Alberto Gilardino and the Italian unexpect-

edly toe-poked the ball past Gianluca Curci to equalise on the night.

A lively Roma reacted well to that setback and they took advantage of how shaky Milan -- and especially Costacurta -- were looking at the back.

They capitalised soon after by making it 2-1 through Perrotta. Christian Panucci's cross found an ignored Totti, his close range shot was parried by Dida's foot which then fell into the path of Perrotta. He couldn't miss from less than a yard out.

Milan looked for another equaliser with a 25-yard low Kaka drive which Curci stopped before Panucci cleared, while Cristian Chivu tried his luck for the capital side. His 34th minute free-kick cleared the wall but didn't trouble Dida.

Carlo Ancelotti opted for a change at the break by bringing on Massimo Oddo for Costacurta, with Dario Simic moving into the centre of the defence as a result. It didn't make any immediate difference though as Roma scored again..

Pizarro did the damage with a rasping low shot from outside of the area. That wonder goal was as a

direct consequence of some wonderful give-and-go football between the Chilean and Totti.

Roma were visibly enjoying themselves against a static Milan and were unfortunate to not make it 4-1 through Daniele De Rossi. His long ranger dipped wickedly, but Dida saved in style.

The Eternal city outfit should have extended their lead in minute 63. They were awarded a penalty for a quite ludicrous Marcos Cafu challenge on Mancini, but Totti's powerful spot-kick was blocked by Dida.

Jankulovski and substitute Pippo Inzaghi worried Roman hearts only for the home side to threaten again. Panucci rattled the bar in minute 78 with an athletic volley that had Dida beaten. It would have been a beauty!

As the clock ticked down Milan resigned themselves to defeat, especially when they were left with 10 men because of an injury to Inzaghi in the last 10 minutes.

Should Inter (3-0 up already) see off Sampdoria on Thursday, the Nerazzurri and Roma will meet in the Coppa Italia Final for the third season running. The northern giants won both of the previous encounters.
