Elaborate programmes have been scheduled for today and the next couple of days to observe the second death anniversary, of Awami League (AI.) leader and former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria.

Family members, different socio-cultural and political organisations will place floral wreaths at the grave of the late leader at Banani graveyard in the capital from 8:30am, a press release said.

Family members will hold recitation of the Quran and a milad mehfil after Asr prayers at his Dhanmondi residence.

A lecture on "Economic Policies and Strategies of Shah AMS Kibria" will be held at Institute of Diploma Engineers Auditorium at 4:00pm tomorrow. Bangladesh Foundation for Development Research will organise the event.

On January 31 , Agami Prakashani will organise a launching ceremony of the book "Prabandha Sangraha" composed with different published articles written by Kibria in 2004.

Shah AMS Kibria and four others were killed in a grenade attack carried out shortly after a rally at Boidderbazar in Habiganj on January 27, 2005.
