Tremors jolted Chittagong and Sylhet region yesterday.

However, there was on report of casualty or damage to property.

In Chittagong, the quake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale shook the port city and its adjoining areas at 7:21:36pm and lasted for 26 seconds, according to our correspondent.

The epicentre of the tremor was 242-km off the country's lone seismic observatory at city's Ambagan, sources in the centre said.

It was the second earthquake in November and the 15th in this year, they added.

Our Sylhet correspondent reported that a mild tremor jolted Sylhet region at 7:22pm and lasted for about 10 seconds.

Though Sylhet region is considered as one of the most earthquake prone zones of the country, there is no arrangement for measuring tremor here. A seismic observatory was set up in sylhet three years ago. But due to bureaucratic tangles, the seismograph machine could not be set up at the centre even in the last three years.
