The curricula of the Islamic schools in the United States and the madrassah education in Bangladesh are completely different. The Islamic schools in the US follow the curricula of other public and private schools in addition to teaching Islamic values. The students from Islamic schools go to different universities here competing with other students and are becoming doctors, engineers, lawyers, teachers and other professionals. But the education system followed in the madrassahs is totally different.

The madrassah students are ill prepared to compete with the rest of the world. They have no knowledge of science, mathematics, history, commerce, humanities etc. How these madrassah graduates can lead the nation when they are so incompetent? A madrassah student cannot become an economist, scientist, engineer or doctor.

Their degrees simply cannot be equivalent to bachelor's or master's when they do not study

any of the subjects offered in the universities.

This is a baloney. No university in the world will accept their applications for doing master's or PhD. The education offered in a madrassah is not good enough for the modern world.

Needless to say, madrassah education is turning Muslims into fundamentalists, disrespectful of others, intolerant to differences of opinion etc. I do not think upgrading madrassah education will solve the core problem of the system.

Madrassah education in Bangladesh needs a complete overhaul and the authorities should play a procreative role in this regard, instead of making a politically biased wrong decision. Crying foul against the Jews, Christians and others will not help, unless we Muslims become well educated.
