The government committee for ascertaining the extent of loss of the injured journalists talked to the newsmen on Thursday at Chittagong Press Club.

The committee headed by Mir Mosharraf Hossain, Joint Secretary (Dev) of the Information Ministry recorded the deposition of statement of the journalists who came under police atrocity on the opening day of the second Test between Bangladesh and Australia at the Chittagong Divisional Stadium on April 16.

Eight newsmen including three photojournalists, victims of police brutality, gave the committee with the details of the extent of their injuries and loss of their professional equipment.

Committee members Deputy Secretary of the Youth and Sports ministry Safiqul Haq Bhuiyan, general secretary of the Dhaka Union of Journalists Omar Faruk, general secretary of the Chittagong Union of Journalists Mohammad Shanewaj and general secretary of the Photo Journalists' Association Mir Ahmed Miro were also present on the occasion.
