The National Team Management Committee (NTMC) will delay naming the preliminary squad for the South Asian Games which will be held in Colombo in August.

The NTMC was due to announce the squad by today and start the residential camp immediately. However, it has been kept waiting by the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) which has yet to respond to the budget submitted by the NTMC for preparations.

“We have finalised the team. But cannot announce it on schedule because we didn't have any words from the BOA,” said NTMC member Sayeed Hassan Kanan yesterday.

“We had submitted a Tk 47-lakh budget two weeks earlier but the BOA has not contacted us yet. Even if they had given us the green signal, we could have started the camp.

“At this stage, we can not start the camp with confirmation of fund,” added Kanan.

Traditionally, the BOA provides the preparation budget for all the federations for any Games.
