The police recovered bodies of two women and a businessman who allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in the capital on Wednesday night.

The dead are Shuktara, 18, a domestic help, Gilbert Gomes, 52, a businessman, and RozinaAkhtar, 19, a housewife.

Shuktara, daughter of Maharaj Miah of Bancharampur in Brahmanbaria, worked as a domestic help at Zahidul Islam Selim's house at Ahmednagar, Paikpara in Mirpur. Selim said he went to his work in the morning, leaving Shuktara at his home alone. On his return home in the evening, he found the door locked from inside but received no response when he called Shuktara.

Selim then informed the police who broke open the door only to find Shuktara hanging from the ceiling with her scarf at around 7:00pm.

In another incident, Gilbert Gomes was found hanging from the ceiling of the veranda of his house at Tejkunipara at around 11:00pm.

His family said Gilbert had recently become mentally unstable after his business made losses.

The police sent the two bodies to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.

At South Dhania in Shyampur, Rozina, wife of Tapan Mia, was found hanging from the ceiling of her room at night.

The police sent the body to Sir Salimullah Medical College morgue for autopsy.

Morgue sources said the body bore several marks of bruises.
