State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar yesterday regretted the incidents at Kansat where several people were killed on Wednesday.

“I express my regret for the unfortunate incidents of Kansat,” he told newsmen after the prison officials' conference at the Department of Prisons.

Police are trying to bring the situation under control, Babar said adding that the agitators swooped on the law enforcers at night, fired gunshots and exploded bombs that compelled the police to open gunfire.

“The people of Kansat do not want to sit for any dialogue, although the government is always ready to discuss,” he added.

Replying to a question, he denied that police had resorted to any excess.
