The government has finally terminated Masud Mia, special superintendent of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and AMM Fakhrul Islam Khan, former superintendent of police (SP), Habiganj.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdul Qaiyum confirmed the termination of the two.

The IGP said Masud Mia was terminated from his job on charges of corruption and other irregularities.

Fakrul Islam Khan was sacked for his failure in providing security during the Awami League meeting at Boidder Bazar in Habiganj on January 27 last year that led to help the assailants slip away after hurling

two grenades, killing former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria and four others, the IGP said.

Fakhrul was also blamed for not providing information about the assailants.

"As per the probe reports, Masud Mia and Fakhrul Islam were sacked," the IGP added.

The order was issued on Tuesday night.

According to police sources, about 13 allegations against Masud Mia came to light after a number of newspaper ran reports on March 1 revealing his support to the Islamist militant leader Bangla Bhai.
