Ahle Hadith Andolon Bangladesh yesterday demanded immediate release of its Ameer Dr Asadullah Al Galib claiming that he had no link to militancy.

“Dr Galib even did no know the Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) leaders Bangla Bhai and Shaikh Abdur Rahman,” said Dr Muhammad Muslehuddin, acting Ammer of Ahle Hadith Andolon, while addressing a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity auditorium.

A part of the government may be behind a conspiracy against Dr Galib, he said, adding, “The trial process of the cases filed against Dr Galib is being influenced so that he could not get bail what he definitely deserves.”

“ Dr Galib in his youth might have a link with Jamaat-e-Islami, but later on he always used to take stance against its activities,” said Muslehuddin in reply to a question.

He also demanded immediate release of 10 Ahle Hadith leaders and workers arrested on suspicion of being involved with JMB activists.

“Ahle Hadith has no connection with the JMB, rather it is always vocal and active against the JMB's militant activities,” Muslehuddin asserted.

Ahle Hadith leaders Dr Md Shawkat Hussain, SM Abdul Latif and Abdul Wadud were also present at the press conference.
