The Myanmar authorities yesterday released 23 Bangladeshi woodcutters after a flag meeting between the border security forces of the two countries.

Nasaka, the border security force of Myanmar, handed over the Bangladeshi citizens to Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), the Bangladesh border security force.

A government source present in the meeting informed that the officials of the both countries agreed to

work together to reduce tension and stop smuggling at the border areas.

In May, the members of the Nasaka caught 23 Bangladeshi woodcutters while they were collecting wood.

The local people said they caught these Bangladeshi woodcutters from Bangladesh area.

On the other hand, the Nasaka alleged that some Bangladeshi citizens often enter their country to do illegal activities. They also alleged that some of these 23 people were caught several times before.
