Police yesterday arrested six Awami League (AL) leaders from different upazilas in Manikganj.

The arrestees are Saturia upazila AL Joint Secretary Golam Hossain, Saturia upazila BCL President Anisuzzaman Miran, Saturia upazila Swechchha Sebak League Convenor Proddut Kumer Appollo, Shivalaya upazila BCL President Khandaker Mizanur Rahman, former Manikganj district BCL joint secretary Rezanul Islam Anjan and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal leader Mahabubul Islam Babu.

When contacted, Manikganj Police Superintendent Abu Bakar Siddik Mazumder said that many cases were filed against the arrestees.

On the other hand, Manikganj district AL President Golam Mohiuddin and Secretary Gazi Kamrul Huda Selim alleged that the government arrested them to foil the AL grand rally in Dhaka on November 22.
