Minister in charge of Public Service Commission secretariat in the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Aminul Haque yesterday said the government has a plan to bring changes in the existing process of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations.

"The matters relating to bringing changes in the selection process through BCS examinations is now under consideration of the government and appropriate steps would be taken in this regard in time," he said while replying to a question from Mohammad Ali Sarkar (Rangpur-2).

process, examinations would be held only on compulsory subjects.

He said according to the "Bangladesh Civil Service Rule-1982" there is a provision to take examinations on five compulsory and three optional subjects. For general cadre, he said, 100 marks were fixed for each subject.

Apart from this, he said, those who are interested to go to technical cadre, have to sit for examinations on five compulsory subjects while rest 300 marks would be counted from their academic attainment.

Barrister Aminul Haque said in the existing system there is a provision to hold examinations on 200 marks for general, technical and professional cadres.
