Qulkhwani of former finance minister Shah AMS Kibria was held yesterday afternoon at his Dhanmondi residence seeking eternal peace of the departed soul and praying to the Almighty to help destroy conspirators and killers.

Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina, political leaders, academicians, professionals, judges, lawyers and other people were present on the occasion.

Recitation from the holy Quran continued for the last four days for the qulkhwani.

Imam of Dhanmondi Hakkani Mosque Maulana Abdus Zahur conducted the milad and offered 'munajat' at the qulkhwani.

Those present on the occasion included noted economist Prof Rehman Sobhan, former chief adviser of caretaker government Justice Habibur Rahman, Barrister Amir-ul-Islam, Prof Anisuzzaman, Dhaka University (DU) Teachers Association President AAMS Arefin Siddique, former DU vice chancellor Prof AK Azad Chowdhury, Grandmaster Niaz Morshed and women's rights leader Shirin Akhter.

AL leaders Abdus Samad Azad, Tofail Ahmed, Abdur Razzak, Amir Hossain Amu, Motia Chowdhury, party General Secretary Abdul Jalil, Abdul Hamid and Saber Hossain Chowdhury and leaders of other

parties inluding Kader Siddiqui,

and G M Quader attended the qulkhwani.

The late leader's son Reza Kibria received the guests.
