The Health Education and Agriculture Development Society

(HEADS), a local NGO, has launched primary health care and sanitation service in Rangpur.

The programme was launched with an orientation meeting and distribution of medicines against worms and sandals for use in latrine among 400 poor people including women and children in Tapodhon union in the Sader upzila. The items were distributed free of cost. Earlier a rally was held on the ground of Chadkhuti Primary School, where the speakers outlined the objectives of IIEADS. They said only sanitation and use of pure water can keep at bay all common ailments like diarrhoea, jaundice and other waler borne diseases.

Presided over by Moazzem Hossen Lablu the meeting was

Dr. Mantu said that about 90

percent of the poor

people in the country are affected more or less by worm,

resulting in malnutrition. Children are the worst

sufferers, he added.

People can easily remain free from worms and malnutrition if they are aware of sanitation, he said.

Moazzem Hossen said HEADS gave the sanitation support io the poor only to create awareness. " This does not mean that the organiztlon will give you the support for long", he said.
