Netrakona district Awami League President Samsujjuha has said 'it is quite impossible for Awami League to participate in Netrakona-2 by-election under this government'.

He was addressing at rally in arefront of Awami League office

Tuesday evening, organised to protest the grenade attack on the August 21 AL public meeting in Dhaka.

Free and fair election will not be held under his government because of the over all law and order situation and possible rigging by ruling party men, he said.

The AL leader bitterly criticised the government for what he called its failure to ensure security of people's life and property and urged it to step down accepting the responsibility for the August 21 carnage.

Samsujjuha alleged that the ruling parties are sheltering terrorists and criminals and patronising corruption.

Later, when asked by this correspondent whether he got any decision about Netrakona by-polls from the party's central leaders, he said, "Though the central body has not made any declaration, I got the impression after talking to some central leaders including General

Secretary Abdul Jalil".

September 14 is the last date for submitting nomination paper for Nnetrakona-2 by-polls and September 22 is the last date for withdrawal of candidature.

Presided over by Samsujjuha, the rally was addressed by, among others, Netrakona district AL General Secretary Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, Organising Secretary Nur Khan Mitu and party leader Islam Uddin Kala Miah.

Earlier a procession led by Samsujjuha protesting the August 21 incident was brought out in the town.
