The Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) will stage demonstrations across the country on September 16 to protest the government's move to give immunity to the World Bank.

At a rally yesterday, the CPB leaders expressed deep concern over the move and said the BNP-led four-party alliance government is planning to enact a law in this regard.

They called on the people to unite to topple the government immediately. otherwise, the United States will start to dominate soon through the World Bank and the International Monitory Fund (IMF), they said.

The leaders said the government has closed down many mills and factories, leaving the workers jobless, on the prescription of the World Bank.

They threatened to launch a tougher movement if the government goes ahead with the move.

Later, the leaders and activists took out a procession.
