On August 6, Swapnadal, a theatrical group, arranged a daylong programme at the Experimental Theatre Stage at Shilpakala Academy to observe Hiroshima Day. It was on August 6, 1945, to flaunt their military power the uS dropped the nuclear bomb on Hiroshima, Japan.

The programme started with a poster exhibition on the impact of the nuclear attack on the Japanese people. Humayun Kabir Sweet has collected these posters from 'Hiroshima Peace Memorial Foundation' in Japan to display the destruction of the city by the nuclear bomb. Sweet says, 'I collected these posters from Hiroshima to grow awareness among the people of Bangladesh against nuclear weapons.' Visitors flocked to watch the display of the posters and a stage play--Tringshoshotapdi (thirtieth century) by Swapnodal.

A visitor, Lora Hiden from Britain says, 'I strongly oppose any form of war in the world. This type of poster displays will generate protest against nuclear weapon.'

Another visitor Anna says, 'All of us here are getting a chance to watch the sufferings of the victims of Hiroshima. All the warlords should watch these pictures so as to refrain from such activities.'

At 7pm Swapnodal staged their anti-war play Tringshoshotapdi. Zahid Ripon has adapted the play from Indian playwright Badal Sarkar's play. In the play the narrator interrogates some historical characters like Einstein, the scientist who invented the theory on which A-bomb was later developed, Major Fereby, the pilot of the aircraft who dropped the bomb on Hiroshima, and Major Claude Itharby who carried the nuclear bomb to Nagasaki and later became insane on his realisation of the crime.

Moreover, in the play Zahid has punched some contemporary brutal war activities by the American forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. And through a replicated military exercise he has depicted the nuclear activities of the world's super powers.

As the director of the play, Zahid has followed 'Third Theatre Form'--the directorial technique to communicate with the audience in an inexpensive, portable and flexible way introduced by Badal Sarkar. He has perfectly chosen the directorial technique for an awareness-growing play and has successfully applied the form in the play. To follow Third Theatre Form, Zahid has used empty stage and simple floodlight throughout the play.

The group work of the artistes was impressive with Baqar Bakul's performance being the best.
