Police yesterday confiscated all furniture, household goods and appliances found in the home of Mir Anis, cousin of a state minister and the alleged mastermind behind the Islamist militant training camp in a remote hilly area of Hathazariupazila busted onjunel.

The house is on Hathazari Women Madrasa campus, where Anis works as a teacher.

The expropriation follows a court order to attach all movable property of Anis and his two lieutenants --Ahmad Hossain alias Kaderi Hujur and Habibullah.

Police said they would soon seize the movable property of the other two, who too are local madrasa

teachers and accused of running the clandestine arms training centre as Anis' accomplices.

Police sought the attachment order after their manhunt in the port city and adjacent districts failed to nab any of the three kingpins of local Islamist zealots.

Police returned empty handed from all their raids on probable hideouts of the absconders including the one at Patiya Madras a. Police officials said they have engaged spies to dig out information on whereabouts of the three.

Acting on a tip off, police busted the hornets' nest deep in the Hathazari hills on June 1 last and arrested two persons named M Iskander and Enamul Huq, while the rest of the militants managed to flee.

The same day, police busted another arms training camp at

Rangunia hills and arrested a man named M Tushar.

Police seized 24 dummy Ak-47 rifles, tents, spears, binoculars and other military training equipment from the two camps, reportedly run with support from Harkatul Jihad, an Islamist terrorist outfit.

After quizzing the arrestees, police filed two cases of anti-state activities and unlawful assembly of people under sections 143, 150, 120-B and 121-A of Bangladesh Penal Code with Hathazari and Rangunia police stations. The sections provide a maximum punishment of life imprisonment, police said.
