Losing finalist in the French Open Elena Dementieva broke down in tears at her post-match press conference when asked to talk about her poor service game.

The 22-year-old Russian served up 10 double faults in the lop-sided 6-1, 6-2 loss to compatriot Elena Dementieva and her lack of overhead power for such a tall, powerful athlete had many heads being scratched.

Asked what she had screamed in Russian after yet another double fault in the second set Dementieva replied: "I hate my serve."

Asked next what the problem was she replied: "I just do not know howto serve," before bursting into tears.

The faulty Dementieva service action was analysed at length in Saturday's version of L'Equipe with the consensus being that she threw ittoofarto her right, didnotuseher legs and had no wrist action.

Dementieva admitted that her wobbly serve had not been helped by her nervous state in what was her first Grand Slam final.

"I just couldn't handle all the pressure and I was too excited. My concentration wasn't there," she said.

"I was rushing all the time and I couldn't stop myself. I was just losing point after point and couldn't change anything. But it's normal. It's my first Grand Slam final."
