Khondokar Jamil Uddin tendered his resignation yesterday as chairman of the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) following media speculation over the Board's standing committee.

"I offered to step down as I took responsibility for failing to convince the Dhaka clubs to take part in this year's Premier League," said Jamil while explaining his decision.

He said that he learnt from different dailies that the Board was planning reorganise the CCDM, which runs the colourful Dhaka club competitions.

"I still believe that Dhaka League is our main domestic competition. But it was my fault that the clubs stayed away from the league which left countless cricketers in financial hardship this season," said Jamil, who was made chairman of the newly introduced Corporate Cricket League.
