Title aspirants Brothers Union won a one-wicket thriller against Mohammedan Sporting Club while Abahani beat Shatadal Junior comfortably in their respective Super Six matches in the CJKS-Ispahani Premier Cricket League here Monday.

Brothers, who outclassed defending champions Rising Star on Saturday, had the last laugh at the Divisional Stadium, thanks to a gritty century by their Pakistani recruit Fahad Khan.

Set to chase a demanding 255, Fahad hammered a blistering unbeaten 130 off 125 balls as Brothers reached the summit with a wicket in hand. Fahad, who struck 13 boundaries and three sixes, played a lone battle after his side lost three wickets even before reaching quarterof a century.

He featured in two crucial stands of 66 and 74 with Nuruzzaman and compatriot Rashed Hanif.

Earlier, sent into bat, Mohammedan made a fighting 254 for nine in 50 overs with Golam Mabud (36 off 43 balls) and Zahid Adil (24 off 51) providing an ideal start.

Rezaul Karim top-scored with 78 off 70 balls that included ten fours. Rafiqul made 40.

Left-arm spinner Rashed was the most successful Brothers bowler with three wickets while Mohammad Ali bagged two.

In the other match, Abahani virtually romped to a nine-wicket victory over Shatadal with almost 20 overs to spare at MAAziz Stadium.

Abahani also rode on the brilliance of another Pakistani allrounder Mohammad Rizwan.

Rizwan blasted his way to an unbeaten 128 off just 78 balls as Abahani toppled a modest Shatadal total of 192 at the expense of Emran Ahmed (43 off 81 balls), who featured in a opening stand of 148 in 23.5 overs with the century-maker.

Rizwan set the second Test venue of the country afire with two sixes and 23 boundaries.

Rizwan also claimed two wickets to comolete a virtuoso show.
