Awami League President Sheikh Hasina yesterday said the agitation against the alliance government would continue until the ouster of this 'oppressive regime'.

She said the April-30 deadline to unseat the ruling coalition has expired but there are more 30s in the calendar to come.

The opposition leader alleged that the four-party alliance government did not do anything for the welfare of the people.

Rather, they have created a reign of terror through crimes, murders and widespread corruption, she said ata rally atTungipara.

The AL chief said the BNP had called hartal on 382 days during the tenure of her government but now they are criticising the AL for calling hartal.

Although the government has arrested opposition leaders and workers in a huge number to stifle the opposition voice, the agitation would continue, she said.

Sheikh Hasina said the law and

order situation has worsened so alarmingly that the foreign investors now feel discouraged to invest in the country.

She said the government seized a huge rams haul in Chittagong recently but they did not take any action against those responsible for the arms smuggling.

Hasina said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has recently been adjudged the greatest among the 20 Bengalees of all times in an opinion poll conducted by the BBC. "It is the victory of the people of Bangladesh."

As many as 20 central and local AL leaders, including Layek Ali Biswas, Emdad Chowdhury, Col. (Rtd) Faruque Khan MP, Mukul Bose, Obaidul Quader, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim MP, Motia Chowdhury, Abdul Jalil MP, Tofail Ahmed, Amir Hossain Amu, Sajeda Chowdhury and Abdus Samad Azad also spoke.

Earlier, Sheikh Hasina along with the leaders of AL, Jubo League, Chhatra League and other front organisations, placed wreaths at the graveyard of Bangabandhu.
