The 76th birth anniversary of Shahid Janani Jahanara Imam was observed here on Monday.

To mark the day, Ekatturer Ghatok Dalal Nirmul Committee organised a meeting on 'Human rights and Constitution of Liberation War in Bangladesh' at WVA auditorium with its acting President and writer Shahriar Kabir in the chair.

Central Leader Daulat Ara Mannan read out the written speech of National Professor Kabir Chowdhury as he could not attend the meeting due to his illness.

In his speech, Kabir Chowdhury called for removing fundamentalism from the soil of Bangladesh uniting all the political groups and social power to safeguard the spirit of the Liberation War.

Earlier, activists of Ekatturer Ghatok Nirmul Committee, Muktijudher Shahid Shriti Pathagar and Projonmo 71, led by Nirmul Committee General Secretary Kazi Mukul, placed wreath at the grave of Shahid Janani at Intellectual Graveyard at Mirpur in the city, says a press release yesterday.
