THEATRE is going to stage their new show Madhovi at the Mahila Samity Mancha at 7:00 p.m. today. After a simple premier show, this is the first public presentation of their production. Ashish Goshayami is the translator of the Hindi play entitled Madhovi by Bhisham Sahni, which is based on the instructional tale from the Mahabharata. The incidents of the play are believed to have taken place some 5000 years ago.

Galav, the young disciple of Vishwamitra, completing twelve years of study, firmly and repetitively insists on providing gurudakshina (mentor's due) to his guru. But the guru asks for the impossible. To satisfy the guru, he marries Yaati's daughter Madhovi. Because of the conflicts of reality,

ego and conspiracy the couple suffers. At the end of the play, Madhovi is celebrated as the "Ideal Woman" for denying her female instinct. Ramendu

Majumdar is the director of the play. Mustafa Monwar is the set designer while Nasirul Haque Khokon is the light designer.
