Former captain and wicketkeeper Moin Khan has been added to Pakistan's squad for the one-day series against New Zealand later this month, officials said on Monday.

Moin was added to the list of 22 players for the five-match series after the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Tauqir Zia, stepped in to defuse a row between coach Javed Miandad and chief selector Aamir Sohail.

The dispute flared up after Sohail announced the pool of players last Friday without consulting the Pakistan captain Inzamamul Haq or coach and even some of his fellow selectors.

The squad did not include wicketkeeper Moin, and equally experienced Rashid Latif, who played in the two Tests against South Africa, or former skipper Rashid Latif and had just one keeper, Kamran Akmal, for the series.

The decision came under strong criticism in the national media despite Sohail's claim the decision was targeted at a future with young wicketkeeper Akmal.

"The selectors have reconsidered the inclusion of Moin after a rethink on their part," PCB chief executive Rameez Raja said.

"They felt it would be better to have two wicketkeepers in the training camp for New Zealand."

New Zealand, expected here on November 20, will play their first first match in Faisalabad on November 22.

Their itinerary includes two matches in Rawalpindi on November 24 and 25 and another two in Lahore on November 29 and December 1.
