An o2nd minute goal by aging warrior Imtiaz Ahmed Nakib gave defending champions Moha-mmedan Sporting Club a less than impressive 1-0 victory over Dhaka Wanderers Club in the Tibet Federa-tion Cup Football Tournament final round at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.

Wanderers bravely held out their Motijheel neighbours before Nakib salvaged the black and whites with a deft finish with eight minute to go.

The victory was a boost for an alllocal Mohammedan, who are awaiting the arrival of the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) of their five Cameroon booters to recover the losses they suffered in the transfer market.

Coming on as a second-half substitute Nakib showed that he had not lost any of his scoring ability at the fag end of

his career. He was in the right place at the right time when a mistimed a volley by Khokon Das flew to his feet and he did not waste to a second to slam it into the net.

The game also saw the return of a fit Amin Rana. The talented forward from BKSP whose has been dodged by injuries throughout his career looked comfortable in his first game for his new club.

But despite the solid performance by Rana it hardly reassured the fans ahead of what promises to be tough battle ahead. Moha-mmedan is understandably feeling like a mediocre team in the aftermath of Brothers Union's sensational swoop in the inter-club footballter's transfer.

Wanderers set out to play for a draw against their mighty opponents. The strategy was to attack on the break through the striking pair of Hanif and Yousuf. But the Mohammedan defence led by experienced campaigner Jewel Rana made sure no damage done like what happened to Brothers against

Bangladesh Army in the first round.

Wanderers got their only scoring chance 10 minutes after the break when Hanif drove a fierce right-footer that was brilliantly saved by Mohammedan custodian Milon.

Bir Sheshthra Shaheed Mustafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur, a youthful Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra rode on the Brazilian Fabio Silva to sink Dhanmondi Club 6-0.

Silva scored a hattrick with goals in the 4th, 43rd and 53rd minute respectively.

Another foreign recruit of the Premier League's new boys Nigerian midfielder Figo struck the second in the 22nd minute. Striker Milon added the third two minutes latter and Jalal completed the Dhanmondi drubbing on the 68th minute.
