Prime Minister Khaleda Zia yesterday warned that tougher action would be taken if anyone was found involved in corruption or irregularities in the distribution and allocation of relief materials in the 'Monga affected' districts in country's northwestern region.

While reviewing the monga situation in the weekly regular cabinet meeting,

she also instructed the Disaster Management and Relief Minister and Minister in Charge of the districts to keep in close touch so that no irregularities or negligence take place in the distribution of relief.

Minister for Disaster Mana-gement and Relief Chowdhury Kamal Ibne Yusuf briefed the cabinet about the current state of the monga as well as the progress of the relief operation and measures undertaken to face the situation.

The cabinet, however, expressed satisfaction over the measures taken to overcome the situation as well as the relief operation.

UNB adds: At the meeting, the cabinet also approved the draft of the Code of Civil Procedure (Third Amendment) Act 2003 and a proposal for ratification of the Protocol on Biosafety to the convention on biological diversity.

The meeting approved yet another proposal for packing 10 percent of urea fertiliser in polypropylene bags for storing in buffer godowns for preservation and distribution.

Cabinet members, state ministers in charge of ministries concerned, cabinet secretary, principal secretary and other secretaries concerned were present.
