The nightmares of Chittagong haunted Bangladesh again in Dhaka as they crashed to an identical seven-wicket defeat against England yesterday in the second of the three-match one-day series.

The tourists have now clinched the series 2-0 and are odds-on favourites to wrap it up 3-0 when they take on the hosts at the same Bangabandhu National Stadium tomorrow.

Chasing a paltry 134 in 50 overs, the visitors had some trouble initially when they lost three wickets for only 37 runs.

The home side could have been in an even better position had Manjurul Islam not dropped danger man Andrew Flintoff when he was on 26 and England on 76 in the 21st over.

Flintoff accepted the gift and belted Bangladesh bowlers all around the park to see the Englishmen sail home in 27.4 overs.

Flintoff, who took four wickets and scored an unbeaten 55 to guide England to a seven-wicket win in the first match in Chittagong last Friday, once again remained not out on 70 off 47 balls.

He reached his fifty in only 37 balls with four sixes and half a dozen boundaries.

Captain Michael Vaughan with an unbeaten 37 stroked the ball around to make sure that there were no more hiccups.

Earlier, Captain Khaled Mahmud won the toss for a second straight time and elected to bat, but the hosts were blown out of the game, losing four wickets with just seven runs on the board in the eleventh over.

However, three middle-order batsmen Rajin Saleh, Mohammad Rafique and Mushfiqur Rahman batted with purpose to steer the home side past the 100-mark.

Rajin top-scored with 37 off 108 balls with five boundaries followed by Rafique who added an unbeaten 27 off 33 balls with four fours.

Mushfiq, who put on a valuable 53-run fifth wicket partnership with Rajin, scored a patient 22.

A frustrated Bangladesh coach Dav Whatmore said after the match he might have failed to make his boys understand what he wanted of them.

"I think some guys did not understand what I said to them," said Whatmore.
