Police headquarters yesterday issued a statement regarding a news item carried in several newspapers on Thursday.

"Retirement is a continuous process in police department for lack of physical fitness, inefficiency and activities contrary to service discipline," the statement said adding that action had been taken against some policemen as they broke service rules.

It also said the decision of forced retirement of 30,000 policemen is "fabricated and imaginary".
