The upcoming ninth session of the Jatiya Sangsad, starting on September 11, will be brief.

The session may continue till September 24, said a senior minister. However, the opposition bench is likely to remain mostly vacant yet again as the main opposition Awami League (AL) has shown no signs of joining the session.

The business advisory committee will sit one and a half hours before beginning of the session to fix up its duration. But the AL has decided not to join the meeting.

Sources at the parliament secretariat said only one vital bill, Independent Anti-corruption Commission Bill, 2003, is expected to be passed during the session. Apart from the law ministry, no other ministry has sent notice to the parliament secretariat on introducing any bill.
