Three schoolboys were killed and 50 people were injured in a road accident in front of the Livestock Research Institute at Savar on the Dhaka-Aricha road yesterday.

The deaths angered school students and locals who put up barricades keeping the road blocked for more than four hours.

The victims are Mirajul Islam Miraj, Zillur Rahman and Nasim Biswas Prince. Miraj and Zillur were students of class eight and seven of FROM PAGE 1

The accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound BRTC double-decker collided with another bus that tried to overtake it at about 12:15pm. The BRTC bus hit the 'Nirapad' bus from behind killing the three schoolboys occupying rear seats.

Hearing the news, the boys from Jahangirnagar University School and College and Cantonment Public School and College came out on the road and damaged two buses.

Police came to the spot 45 minutes after the accident took place and recovered the bodies of the three schoolboys and rushed the injured to hospital. Ten critically injured people were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
