Six people including two children were killed and at least 19 others injured in a fatal road accident at Tribordi under Sonargaon thana in Narayanganj on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at around 8:15am yesterday.
Two other accidents in Feni and Magura killed four people including two children, said our correspondents from the two districts.
Our Narayanganj correspondent quoting an eyewitness account said six people were killed, five on the spot, when a Dhaka-bound microbus (Ctg-Metro-Chha-11-1074) carrying 10 people collided head on with a passenger bus (Dhaka-Metro-Ja-14-0562)
going to Daudkandi.
Five of the dead included microbus driver Belal, 20, of Chawkbazar of Chittagong and four passengers -- two men and two children aged between three and five. Locals rescued five injured passengers including two children aged four and seven from the badly damaged microbus and sent them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). One of the injured, an unidentified woman of about 35 years, died at the hospital.
At least 15 others travelling on the roof of the passenger bus were injured as the bus fell into a roadside ditch after collision with the

microbus. Seven of the injured --Sohel, 30, Saleha Akhter, 25, Anowara, 10, Ayesha Begum, 50, Salma, 25, Abul Kashem, 56, and a 55-year-old unidentified male -were sent to the DMCH in critical condition while the rest were admitted to a local health complex.
Traffic movement on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway remained suspended for about one and a half hours following the accident.
The bus driver fled the spot. Police seized the bus and the badly damaged microbus. A case was filed with Sonargaon thana.
Our correspondent from Feni reports: Two minor girls were killed and a young girl was injured when a truck ran them over at Fazilpur on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, about 15 km from Feni town at around 9:30am yesterday, police said.
The victims Asma, 10, daughter of Mortuza, died on the spot, while Zaheda, 9, daughter of Bachchu, died on way to hospital. The injured, Tahmina, 16, was admitted to Feni Sadar Hospital.
Our correspondent from Magura adds: Two people were killed in a road accident on the Magura-Faridpur Highway near the Rural Electrification Board office, about one km off Magura town, at around 2:00pm yesterday.
Police and witnesses said the victims Srish Kumar Malo, 32, son of Dasarath, and Asim, 18, son of Ranjit Kumar of village Sultanpur in Rajbari Sadar upazila, were coming from Satkhira in a fishladen pickup when their vehicle collided head on with a truck. Both men were killed on the spot.
Police seized the pickup while the truck driver fled the scene.
Our staff correspondent from Sylhet adds: Six people including a
ward commissioner and a police constable were killed and 22 others injured in a fatal road accident at Bahadurpur on Sylhet-Sunamganj road at 7:30pm Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Ward Commissioner of Derai Pourasava Narayan Banik Naru, 30, police constable of Derai thana Joynal Abedin, 45, Jitendra Dey, 32, Abul Hossain, 35, and Abdul Hamid, 70, of Sunamganj Sadar upazila, and tempo driver Nazimuddin, 35.
Witnesses said the accident occurred when a Sunamganj-bound minibus collided head on with a 'Leguna' tempo. One was killed on the spot while five others died at or on way to hospital.
The injured were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital and Sylhet Sadar Hospital. They are Rubel, 40, Indon, 25, Prodip, 23, Juned, 40, Khokon, 30, Jalal, 35, Abdus Shahid, 50, Azizur Rahman, 30, Jamshed, 35, Ayesha, 35, Harisuddin, 35, Joynal Abedin, 35, Kutubuddin, 35, Tahir Mia, 25, Abul Hossain, 17, Monfor Ali, 40, Mosharraf, 25, Jasimuddin, 15, Jalaluddin, 40, Junab Ali, 35, Banesa Begum, 35, and Monsur, 30.
Police seized the minibus and the tempo. A case was filed.
In another accident on Sylhet-Tamabil road, a tempo driver Abul Khair Jewel, 25, died on the spot when his vehicle overturned at Haripur Saturday night.
Our correspondent from Satkhira reports: A man was killed Saturday at Nakra in Kalaroa upazila on the Satkhira-Jessore road when he was run over by a truck while crossing the road, police said.
The victim is Mehedi Hasan, 27, of Baganchhara village in Sharsha upazila of Jessore district.
