Leader of the opposition and Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina yesterday said the main task of the BNP-Jamaat alliance government was to "patronise criminals and loot the country's wealth."

Asking the government to stop terrorist activists and curb corruption immediately, the AL chief warned that Khaleda Zia would be tried on the soil of Bangladesh for her "misrule and misdeeds."

The AL chief was addressing a meeting, after inaugurating Bashuria Shenerchar High School in Tungipara upazila. Mentioning various development activities initiated by the past AL government including old-age allowance, widow allowance and youth development projects, Hasina accused the BNP-Jamaat government of closing down all the activities in those areas.

Hasina said," My government set up three EPZs in Mongla, Ishwardi and Nilphamari to boost the country's economic development, but Khaleda Zia and her sons want to take tolls from those EPZs."

Referring to the Bangabandhu murder case, Hasina blamed the ruling party for halting the execution of the verdict. "They want to save the killers of Bangabandhu," she said.

The opposition leader said young women were committing suicide to save their chastity from the hands of the hooligans and thousands of women and girls were raped and killed after the BNP-Jamaat alliance came to power.

Earlier, the AL chief went to Borni Union under Tungipara upazila and attended a public meeting on the newly constructed Borni union parishad complex premises.
