The Jatiya Sangsad resumes its session today after a weeklong recess with the main opposition Awami League (AL) deciding to return to the House.

The AL lawmakers left the House on June 24, barely three days after they made their maiden appearance in the eighth parliament, staging the walkout for being denied their "due share" to speak on the budget.

The AL at a meeting of its presidium last night decided to rejoin the current session from today and raise issues of public concerns.

An hour before the scheduled start of today's sitting at 7:00pm, the Awami League Parliamentary Party (ALPP) will sit to work out its strategy in the House.

The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) had earlier resolved that the session would continue until the middle of July.

The House is likely to deal with some important issues including an adjournment motion on the removal of AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury from the presidency. Several opposition lawmakers submitted notices on the issue, which the speaker earlier assured the House that he might take up for a discussion.

With the passage of the budget for the next fiscal year on June 29, the House went on the seven-day recess.
