The Fifth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court, Dhaka, yesterday adjourned the hearing of Jalal Ahmed Shafi murder case till April 10.

Judge Mohammad Habibur Rahman adjourned the hearing following a time petition by the prosecution lawyers.

Earlier, two prosecution witnesses, including wife of the victim Jalal, were cross-examined.

Jalal, an informant and driver of the DB of DMP, was beaten to death. His body was found in the water tank on the roof-top of the DB office at Minto Road in the city. Jalal was killed reportedly over sharing money.

The decomposed body of Jalal was recovered from the water tank on March, 25, 1999.

The accused Havilder Billal, constable Abdur Rouf and canteen manager Anwar Hossain were present in the court during the hearing. Inspector Ziaul Ahsan the main accused in the case, was not produced in the court due to his illness.
