Former all-rounder Robin Singh will assist India's bowling coach Kapil Dev, BCCI announced on Wednesday.

The Indian board had announced a month back that Kapil Dev would coach bowlers in its build up to the World Cup in 2003. The announcement of Robin's role was made after Kapil Dev had a meeting with Board president Jagmohan Dalmiya late in the night on Wednesday.

Robin's appointment as an assistant to Kapil seemingly spelt an end to his aspiration to make a comeback in the international cricket.

Kapil stated that he had no problems working with Robin. "He has been one of the fittest Indian cricketers around. So he can help in monitoring the fitness of the bowlers. It is important for each and every bowler to maintain their fitness. Otherwise, they will not be able to sustain at the international level," Kapil said.

"I just know that I will be helping the bowlers. However, I have no idea as to when I will start working with them," said the former Indian captain.
