Real Madrid thrashed Athletic Bilbao 3-0 in the second leg of the Spanish Cup here on Thursday to set up an emotion-charged final with Deportivo La Coruna on March 6.

Real's own Santiago Bernabeu stadium will be the venue for the final, which takes place on the official 100th anniversary of the creation of the eight-times European champions.

And Real's dream of centenaryyear success in the league, Cup and European Champions League is still alive after they overturned a 2-1 deficit from the first leg against Bilbao.

In front of a packed Bernabeu, the first goal came courtesy of Inigo Larrainzar, who converted a Luis Figo corner into his own net.

With Real dominating, six minutes later Raul took a pass from Ivan Helguera and scored the second.

Bilbao went on the offensive as they sought the away goal which would have forced the match into extra time, but Guti broke away on the counter-attack to put the match beyond doubt for Real.

French international Zinedine Zidance had to leave the field in the 67the minute after injuring his right ankle. The club said Zidane had slightly sprained the ankle and could be rested for the league match against Espanyol on Sunday.

On Wednesday, Deportivo had been made to fight against lower-division side Figueras in the other semi-final, drawing 1-1 on the night but the league champions from two years ago won 2-1 on aggregate to book their place in the final.
